3 days in Pikes Peak Region Itinerary

Part of Colorado's Royal Gorge Region, Cañon City straddles the Arkansas River.

Denver to Cañon City is an approximately 2-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of bus and taxi; or do a combination of train and flight. In September, plan for daily highs up to 83°F, and evening lows to 56°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Manitou Springs.

On the 4th (Mon), find something for the whole family at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park and then stroll around Manitou Springs Memorial Park. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 5th (Tue): explore the ancient world of Manitou Cliff Dwellings, take a memorable drive along Pikes Peak - America's Mountain, then trek along Manitou Springs Incline, and finally see the interesting displays at Pikes Peak Historical Society Museum.

Traveling by car from Cañon City to Manitou Springs takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from Cañon City in September, with highs in Manitou Springs at 75°F and lows at 47°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Tue) early enough to drive back home.
