4 days in Colorado Springs & Manitou Springs Itinerary

Stunning Garden of the Gods Park scenery, blue skies and the glory of Pikes Peak-America’s Mountain have attracted visitors to Colorado Springs for more than a century.

On the 14th (Fri), learn about all things military at National Museum of World War II Aviation, then explore the striking landscape at Red Rock Canyon Open Space, and then expand your understanding of the military at United States Air Force Academy. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, then walk around Garden of the Gods, and then appreciate the extensive heritage of Old Colorado City.

Omaha to Colorado Springs is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Omaha to Colorado Springs. Plan for little chillier temperatures traveling from Omaha in May, with highs in Colorado Springs at 68°F and lows at 42°F. You will have some time to spend on the 16th (Sun) before leaving for Manitou Springs.

Start off your visit on the 16th (Sun): find something for the whole family at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. Keep things going the next day: cruise along Pikes Peak - America's Mountain and then explore the ancient world of Manitou Cliff Dwellings.

Manitou Springs is very close to Colorado Springs. In May, plan for daily highs up to 64°F, and evening lows to 38°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
