5 days in Colorado Springs & Manitou Springs Itinerary

Stunning Garden of the Gods Park scenery, blue skies and the glory of Pikes Peak-America’s Mountain have attracted visitors to Colorado Springs for more than a century.

Start off your visit on the 15th (Mon): look for gifts at Focus on the Family Bookstore and then expand your understanding of the military at United States Air Force Academy. Keep things going the next day: stroll around Garden of the Gods, then learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and then appreciate the extensive heritage of Old Colorado City.

New York City to Colorado Springs is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time to Mountain Standard Time, which is usually a -2 hour difference. While traveling from New York City, expect somewhat warmer days and a bit cooler nights in Colorado Springs, ranging from highs of 57°F to lows of 28°F. You will have some time to spend on the 17th (Wed) before leaving for Manitou Springs.

Start off your visit on the 17th (Wed): explore the ancient world of Manitou Cliff Dwellings and then look for all kinds of wild species at Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center. On your second day here, get in on the family fun at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park.

Manitou Springs is very close to Colorado Springs. In March, plan for daily highs up to 53°F, and evening lows to 24°F. On the 19th (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
