Part of Colorado's Royal Gorge Region, Cañon City straddles the Arkansas River.

You can drive from Cañon City to Colorado Springs in an hour. Another option is to take a bus. Traveling from Cañon City in August, expect Colorado Springs to be a bit cooler, temps between 83°F and 56°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Sun) to allow time to fly back home.
