9 days in Cañon City & Manitou Springs Itinerary

Part of Colorado's Royal Gorge Region, Cañon City straddles the Arkansas River.

Your list of things to see and do now includes Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, Red Canyon Park, and other attractions. On the 4th (Fri), admire all the interesting features of Skyline Drive. On the 5th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: tour the old-fashioned way with Royal Gorge Route Railroad, then take in the views from Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, and then stroll through Red Canyon Park.

Colorado Springs to Cañon City is an approximately 1-hour car ride. You can also drive; or take a bus. In September, daytime highs in Cañon City are 83°F, while nighttime lows are 56°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Sun) early enough to drive to Manitou Springs.
