I went here on a Saturday and was able to catch the 1pm tour. Our tour guide Ryan was very informative, engaging, and humorous! We walked through the entire museum, and he highlighted the different topics in a digestible and conversational way. I ended up walking through the entire museum again after the tour ended to read all the little text snippets that we walked past. (Don't worry about missing any details; I came to realize that our guide in one shape or another included all the information in his tour!!) I definitely recommend going to the museum during a tour time! During the tour some of the machines are also turned on which is very impressive to see in action! There is also lots to see outside, so you can easily spend 20+ min walking around. If you're like me who went during the winter, make sure you're bundled up so you don't want to rush inside!

Come and learn how the west was built from the underground up! Something to learn around every corner! Watch century old machinery roar back to life on the guided tours and pan for gold and other minerals at the end! Staff is friendly and helpful, museum is loaded with history inside and out, lots of unique goodies in the gift shop, well lit and very clean displays. A wonderful place to explore and learn about the modern world shaped by the industry of the deep earth.
