#5 of 7 in Things to do in Woodland Park
Golf Course · Hidden Gem · Outdoor Activity
What is commonly known today as Pikes Peak was originally named "Shining Mountain" by the Ute Native Americans because of how brightly the sun reflected off of the snow. Minutes from the idyllic town of Woodland Park, Colorado; Shining Mountain is sure to be considered a jewel in the Rocky Mountain state. Woodland Park is nestled among the pines of the Pike National Forest and with over 300 days of sunshine, we enjoy comfortable summers and mild winters. Located at nearly 8500 feet above sea level, this is why we are called "The City Above the Clouds".

The course is 6,478 yards from the championship tees with a par of 70. The course rating is 71.6 and has a slope rating of 136 on bluegrass. The seasons here are mild and the views spectacular, which makes this a must play for your golfing pleasure.

  • Nice course in a valley. Holes are spread apart pretty far. We played 18 and had a great time. Course eats balls, bring plenty. Also has a disk golf course that was mostly out of the way of golfers.
  • This is a great golf course to play on! It is tighter than most but still amazing. Haven't used the driving range yet. The Club house is very large and has weddings and other events held there. They have had a few restaurants come through, not sure what is there now. The bar area is very large and nice and there is a large deck outside. They have several more conference rooms downstairs also.
